Explanation

The bombing of the Japanese main islands by U.S. forces intensified from the early months of 1945. At the same time a variety of propaganda flyers were dropped over cities, including Nagasaki.

These flyers provided information about the power of the atomic bomb and the bombing of Hiroshima, and warned citizens to evacuate the city and to surrender. However, there are many testimonies and documents which state that the flyers were actually dropped after the atomic bombing on Nagasaki.

Anyone finding these flyers during the war was required to immediately notify the authorities.

*The same flyers were dropped on a number of Japanese cities, and therefore Nagasaki was not singled-out.
