This was dropped by an observation plane just prior to the dropping of the atomic bomb. It is thought that it measured the power (blast pressure and light intensity) released by the bomb. It was discovered around Matsubara-machi in Isahaya, and the Western District Army requested that the Kyushu University Department of Technology investigate it. It is believed that the inner apparatus was later requisitioned by the U.S. Army.
