Explanation

This aged tree was believed to have been 300 to 500 years old. At 11m tall, and with a girth of 2.8m, it was the largest tree in Nagasaki, and was one of the biggest in all of Kyushu. It stood halfway up a small mountain where there was nothing to block the path from the hypocenter. The blast therefore extended directly towards the tree. A large part of the tree is covered in keloid scars.
