Explanation

At the time, the donor’s home was located in Komaba-machi (near the present public swimming pool). It was completely destroyed by the blast and burnt down. The donor’s husband was away at war and at the time of the atomic bombing, the donor had gone to buy food in Togitsu-cho, outside of Nagasaki City, so she escaped without any injury. However, her parents, who were both at home, were killed. As the home was very close to the epicenter, it was obliterated. However, amongst the debris, the donor found this statue which had been in a cupboard inside the house.
