This statue of an angel was located at the Urakami Cathedral when the atomic bomb was dropped. It was donated by to this museum, through the auspices of the Catholic Church Archdiocese of Nagasaki, by Tohoku University Professor Emeritus Motoharu Kimura in November 1985.
Professor Kimura was a member of the Science Council of Japan’s Atomic Bomb Damage Investigation Committee that came to Nagasaki in 1945.
