This piece of wooden wall was used to repair a house which was 1.4km from the hypocenter in Shiroyama-machi (present day Kanahori-machi). It is remarkable that the shadow is still visible despite the 23 years it spent exposed to the elements before its donation. Nothing is known of the fate of the child whose shirt left this shadow, or of their family, nor that of the family who used this wood for repairs.
