Explanation

A Buddhist priest was exposed to the heat rays from behind at Michino-o Station, about 3.5 kilometers north of the hypocenter. The fabric most exposed to the heat rays was burned and had holes torn in it. Black absorbs heat better than light colors and so burn much more easily.
