At the time of the atomic bombing, the donor was a student mobilized to work at the Mori-machi Plant of the Mitsubishi Nagasaki Arms Factory. When the air-raid alarm sounded, they took refuge in Mizunoura-machi. The next day the donor went to the Nagasaki Prefectural Technical School searching for their father and brother but with no success. After asking a person in the air-raid shelter close by of the whereabouts of the brother, the donor was lead to the place where he was last seen. There the donor found what was left of the brother, his bones, together with this buckle that had melted.
