The donor was in the transportation business and received a request for a removals and waste disposal job in May 2002. These coins were inside a small safe which had been chosen for disposal. The donor explained that the safe was damaged beyond repair and was thrown away. The owner of the coins had been living in Motofuna-machi since before the war, which is where these coins were exposed to the atomic bomb.
