Explanation

Keiho Junior High School was located where the Prefectural Nagasaki Nishi High School currently stands. The school buildings were made entirely of wood and burned to ashes.
800m from the hypocenter, the supports of the steel water storage tank (6.2m tall) were bent like boiled candy by the blast winds which had a maximum speed of 200 meters per second.
After the war, this storage tank was relocated to the Hypocenter Park (Matsuyama-machi) to stand with other large-scale remains of structures which had been exposed to the atomic bomb. It was then moved to be displayed inside the Atomic Bomb Museum upon the Museum’s opening on the 1st April 1996.
