Explanation

The elder sister (16 years old at the time) of the donor had been mobilized to work at the Mitsubishi Nagasaki Arms Factory in Ohashi-machi when the atomic bomb was dropped. The donor’s father searched for his daughter but could not find any remains. This arm band was made by the elder sister for the donor. At the time, cloth was precious and hard to come by. The donor’s mother kept this arm band on her person all the time as a keepsake of her daughter. At the time, the donor was in the first year of junior high school.
