Ukichi Egashira, a teacher at the Nagasaki City Daini Commercial High School, was at the Mitsubishi Nagasaki Arms Factory in Ohashi-machi , where the school’s students were mobilized to work, when the atomic bomb was dropped. In the midst of efforts to get the school back to normal, he was taken ill with atomic bomb disease and died one month later. He wore this pass on his arm every day, together with the arm band denoting his position as leader of the mobilized students.
